Analysis of the Movie Do the Right Thing by Spike Lee :: Do the Right Thing Spike Lee Racism Essays
Analysis of the Movie Do the chasten Thing by Spike Lee The movie, Do the Right Thing, by Spike Lee is a hardhitting drama that deals with fierceness and racism in todayssociety. This film is set in a mainly black neighborhood inclose to the present time. Right in the center of thisneighborhood stands a pizza parlor that is owned andoperated by ace of the most important parts in themovie, Sal. In the beginning of the movie, Sal is shownarriving to feat with his devil sons Pino and Vito. This givesan appeal to Sal as a family man. Right from the start Sal is visualized as a hard working, kind, and devoted individual.Just the fact that he owns his own business in these roughand tough times shows that he is a smart, efficient, anddedicated man. Later in the movie we learn that Sal did infact build his pizzeria by himself from the ground up, brickby brick, control panel by board which was no little task indeed. The fact that Sal gets to persona his creation and hard workwith his sons makes it all the more special to him. by and by Salhas finished his pre-opening preparations Sals Pizzeria isopen for the day. Shortly after this, the main character ofthe movie, Mookie, postdates strolling into the restaurant.Mookie works as the delivery man for Sal in this movie.Mookie literally delivers pizza, yes, tho he also acts as amediator between the two races. Sal relies on Mookie notonly to get the pizzas delivered, but to also contain his fellowblack folks content with Sal so they will come and patronizehis restaurant. I think that this shows a very interesting lieuof Sal. It for the most part pawns him off as a racist. On theone hand he can put on a happy face and greet all the blackpeople as they jam their hard earned money out to him forhis pizza, while on the former(a) hand he turns into a bigot, hating most black people and talking behind their backwhile they are not around. Now I say most black peoplebecause Sal seems to have this father-son bond tone e nding onbetween him and Mookie where Sal is the white father andMookie the black son who in the end finally rebels like allsiblings do at many time in their life. Also Sal seems to havesome kind of esteem or love for Mookies sister, Jade. When she enters the pizza parlor Sal insists, if not begs to
